Hiram Man Dies in Single-Car Wreck in Cobb County
Police believe he may have suffered a medical condition before losing control of his car.

Cobb County investigators say a Paulding County man may have suffered a medical condition before a fatal single-car accident Thursday afternoon.

Police said Wiley D. Pannell, 65, of Hiram died in the accident shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday on Macland Road near Lost Mountain Road in Powder Springs.

Pannell was reportedly driving a silver 2007 Ford Mercury Grand Marquis eastbound on Macland when the car left the roadway and struck a small tree and a light pole. Pannell was pronounced dead on arrival at WellStar South Cobb Hospital, police said.

“At this time, investigators believe that the driver may have suffered a medical condition which caused him to lose control of the automobile,” Cobb police said in a statement.
