Hiram Police Chief Attends GA Chiefs Conference

As part of his continuing education and training in the administration of law enforcement, Chief Todd VandeZande, of the Hiram Police Department, recently attended the 2013 Annual Summer Training conference sponsored by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police. Heads of law enforcement agencies from throughout the state participated in the four-day conference.  The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police is responsible for the delivery of training to the chiefs of Georgia’s police departments and law enforcement agencies.

The Summer Training Conference was held at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center from July 21 through July 24. This year’s conference covered a variety of topics such as: “Blue Courage: The Heart and Mind of the Guardian,” “A Call for Service & Why is Your Culture?” “Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Update”, “Badge of Honor Foundation,” “Intelligence Led Policing,” “Refusal of Blood Draws,” “Legislative Update, “International Terrorism Threat to the Homeland,” and “Bulletproof Leadership.”

Chief VandeZande was among more than 485 heads of law enforcement agencies attending the 46th Annual Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Summer Training Conference.  Chief J. Frank Waits of the Vidalia Police Department, President of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, encouraged the chiefs to “take back the exceptional training from this conference to your communities and valued employees.” 

 “The emphasis Chief VandeZande places on his personal growth and development is a true testament to his dedication to providing exemplary law enforcement services to our community,” commented Mayor Devey. City Manager Robbie Rokovitz echoed Mayor Devey’s comments and continued, “We recognize that having a skilled and educated workforce enhances the delivery of services to our citizens and are pleased that Chief VandeZande embraces the importance of professional development and training for himself and his staff”.
