On July 30, Hiram Police Department officials responded to a shoplifting in progress call at Target. Four suspects were taken into custody. The investigation lead to more than $1,200 in stolen merchandise, possession of drugs (marijuana, methamphetamine, hydrocodone, and Xanax), and two of the subjects had outstanding warrants through the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, according to a press release from the City of Hiram.
The investigation initiated when on July 27, three unidentified subjects entered the Hiram Target retail center and committed the act of Theft by Shoplifting of clothing and jewelry. The subjects were observed leaving the store and entering a black Chevrolet Aveo. The license plate was captured by Target security cameras and returned to an address in Paulding County.
On July 30, Lt. Acree and Detective. Lonergan conducted a follow-up investigation at the address revealed by the tag on the Chevy Aveo. During an attempt to make contact with an occupant, there was no answer at the door. Further, there was no indication that the owner of the vehicle still resided at that residence so a lookout for the vehicle was placed with the Paulding Council 911 Center.

Later that same day on July 30, Lt. Acree was notified by Target that the suspects who were identified at the previous shoplifting incident on July 27, had returned and were engaged the criminal act of Theft by Shoplifting. Hiram PD responded and all subjects were then apprehended without incident and charged accordingly.
