Douglas County got on the board early Friday in a battle between Region 5-AAAA schools from different divisions, but scored once more than the home-town Tigers, and beat Douglas County, 21-14.
Junior running back Kevin Mitchell broke a 14-all tie with eight minutes to go in the game when he crossed the goalline to give the Hornets the lead for good.
Hiram will play South Paulding next Friday at home.
