PCHS Cadet Heads to West Point Experience

Paulding County High School JROTC Cadet Zachary Toler has been selected to attend the West Point Summer Leadership Experience.

Paulding County High School JROTC Cadet Zachary Toler will soon be walking through the same stomping grounds as some of America's great heroes like Douglas MacArthur, George Patton and Omar Bradley among many others.

Tolar has been selected to attend the West Point (SLE) Summer Leadership Experience at West Point, NY., the United States Military Academy.

In the attached video, Toler expresses his excitement at the opportunity and shares some of the exciting experiences he looks forward to.

Students are selected from among the top performers academically and with leadership potential as gauged by their extracurricular and athletic activities with consideration given to class composition goals. The SLE selection process is an abbreviated version of the West Point admissions process.

Last year, West Point received more than 3,500 applications for SLS. Generally, students invited to attend SLE will be competitive for admission to West Point.

Approximately 50 percent of those who attend will ultimately attend West Point, but they are competing against other students bound for Ivy League and other tier one schools looking to enhance their resumes as a leader by claiming their attendance at West Point’s SLS.
