My meeting with US Rep Graves

I wish I could say my July 15, 2013 meeting with Rep. Tom Graves in the Federal building in Rome, Georgia was successful, but afterwards, I really couldn't tell people in my neck of the woods (Cedartown) just what immigration policy Mr. Graves is pursuing, among other hot issues of the day. Unfortunately, the man has perfected the art of avoiding real questions from his constituency by designing his town meeting as something called "Meet & Great" sessions -- no questions, please.

I came prepared to ask our young Congressman his views on amnesty, Benghazi, Fast & Furious, DHS buying up tons and tons of "hollow-point" ammunition -- the kind that isn't used for practice -- and whether or not he knew, or believed, Obama was had meet his Constitutional duties to be president. I never got the chance. You see, this was a "Meet & Greet" meeting.

The outside foyer to Rep. Graves' office was full of people patiently waiting to speak -- I mean greet -- the Congressman, many with bill boards and other material. All were left standing in line for well over 30 minutes until, finally, it was my turn to shake the outstretched hand of Tom Graves, wherein I explained to him he had to be insane to treat his constituency in this fashion.

Too his credit, after a few minutes, he did leave the confines of his front office and walked out into the foyer to address those still standing in line. Not to answer questions, mind you, but to simply apologize for the delay and, oh, yes; to give our papers and questions to his staff.

ps: I wish I could have taken of picture of Rep. Graves but no cameras, cell phones with cameras, or recorders allowed.
