North Paulding's Caleb Swiney Elected Georgia State President of Beta

Swiney, a junior at North Paulding, is the first student from Paulding to hold this position.

North Paulding, the newest high school in the county, has 178 Beta students and their motto is "Let us lead by serving others".

Caleb Swiney intends to use this theme in his role as Georgia Beta president. "I aim to get more members involved in helping the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Georgia Beta has over 2,000 active members, a force that should be used to better our state, and our nation," Swiney said.

Swiney also wants to encourage more Georgia clubs to attend the nationals in June, with a goal of electing an officer at the national level.

When asked for the key to his success, Swiney said, "The ability to stay calm and think rationally during times of great stress is the key to my success. When faced with a problem or change, many people sway off course. I love challenges and use them as a chance to prove myself."

Swiney thanked his club and other clubs in the county for their support in his election.

Carole Ford, one of Swiney's favorite teachers, said, "I was thrilled but not surprised when Caleb won the Beta Presidency in March. He is a fine young man, a natural leader, an excellent student, and a fun person to know."
