Opal Vonda Lee Hicks McElroy, 85, Dies

Memorial Graveside and Inurnment services was held on Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the Peaceful Meadows Cemetery.

Opal Vonda Lee Hicks McElroy, 85 of Dallas, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 13, at Bethel Gardens in Powder Springs.

Mrs. McElroy was born on Nov. 6, 1927 in Cullman, AL., the daughter of the late Robert Hicks and the late Pearly Mae Buckaloo Hicks. She worked as a self-employed food service worker and was of the Church of Christ faith. She enjoyed reading and coin collecting. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James McElroy.

Mr. McElroy is survived by a son, Robert Hollingsworth and his wife, Patsy of Mableton; a daughter, Diane H. Russell of Dallas; four grandsons, Brian Owens and his wife, Michelle and Jimmy Owens, all of Dallas, Shane Hollingsworth and his wife, Shelley of Powder Springs, and Brent Hollingsworth of Mableton; and six great grandchildren also survives.

Memorial Graveside and Inurnment services was held on Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the Peaceful Meadows Cemetery.

There is no visitation times planned.
