Paulding May Get a County Administrator Again
Commissioners have decided not to fund the position since 2015.

DALLAS, GA — For the first time since 2015, there may soon be a county administrator in Paulding.
County commissioners are considering funding the top government administrative position for the first time since 2015, the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Incoming Chairman David Carmichael has said he plans to ask the county commission to reinstate the position, which the panel has previously declined to fund in its 2016 and 2017 fiscal year budgets.

Carmichael says an administrator is needed because of the complexity of managing a local government with a $128 million budget and multiple departments.
On Thursday, the MDJ reported, commissioner Vernon Collett, whose district includes southeast Paulding, said he "kind of " agrees with Carmichael about the need. He said the role needs to be limited to helping the chairman, though.

Mike Jones held the job for six years before he resigned in March 2015. The position had been funded for about $180,000 that year, the MDJ said.
Neighboring counties — including Bartow and Douglas, which have similar sized budgets to Paulding County — currently employ county administrators.
