Paulding Rescinds Lesson Regulation
While school boards must vote to rescind policies, regulations can be rescinded without a vote.

While the is rescinding its regulation regarding lesson plans, officials say that teachers will continue to plan out each day’s lessons.
told the board of education at its meeting Tuesday that the school system’s current regulation is out of date.
“As we go through the manual, we want to make sure we get those (that are outdated) out of it,” Otott said.

Otott said that lesson planning takes place now “more than it ever did.”
“They look a little different than they did when those regulations were developed but certainly (they still are completed),” he said.

While school boards must vote to rescind policies, Otott said boards do not have to vote when regulations are rescinded.
“It’s how you live the policy,” he said.
The board also voted to renew its contract with Owens Security Systems for burglary and fire monitoring at the school system’s 43 locations at a cost of $5,500 per location. This is the second renewal, and the contract will expire on Oct. 21, 2012.
In other business, the board:
- voted to renew the school system’s contract with West Georgia Fire Extinguishers for fire extinguisher and kitchen hood service at a cost of $25,000;
- approved field trip requests to Dahlonega and downtown Atlanta for and respectively;
- voted to conduct the required three hours of team board training in March;
- and heard reports of purchases by schools. School purchased a gator for $5,785.19 from Bartow Lawn and Farm, and a lawnmower from Jerry Pate Turf & Irrigation in Atlanta for $15,900. Officials at purchased two 40-foot storage containers for $3,400 from Mobile Mini, Inc. in Morrow. One container will be used to store track and landscaping equipment, and the other will be used to hold construction and other similar equipment.
The school system will be holding public forums regarding redistricting in November, December and January. The meetings on Nov. 3 and Dec. 12 will be held at North Paulding High School, East Paulding High School and Hiram High School. The meeting on Jan. 12 will only be held at East Paulding High School. All meetings start at 7 p.m.
