Reminder: School In Session for Paulding County Next Week
Students and staff in Paulding County Schools had originally been scheduled for a weeklong winter break that had been set to start Monday. Following last month's week of winter weather, that is no longer the case.

It is probably hard to forget that pupils were out for an entire week of classes due to the snow and ice that developed at the onset of the week. But the five days without classes did not come without a price; since the district did not have any built-in inclement weather days in the already-shortened school calendar, which consists of 176 days instead of the typical 180, those days have to be made up.

Cole said during the Jan. 13 meeting that while other options were considered, such as using spring break to recover the lost days or adding days at the end of the year, winter break was considered to have the smallest impact on vacations of the three choices. “I realize that families may have plans during (winter break), but also families may have plans during spring break or the week after school,” he said.
Another previously scheduled school holiday, March 11, also will serve as a makeup day for students to cover the classes canceled due to Dec. 16’s inclement weather.
