Rep. Graves, Google Host Internet Safety Event For Kids
The 45-minute presentation focused on tips for staying safe and being smart online.

From Jackson Spalding: Today, Google and Rep. Tom Graves paid a visit to Sammy McClure Middle School to deliver the Online Safety Roadshow: How to Be Internet Awesome, an online safety assembly developed by Google for middle school students.
Two Google employees delivered the 45-minute presentation, which focuses on five tips for staying safe and being smart online. They covered topics including: sharing with care, setting strong passwords, using settings on different websites and apps, identifying online scams, and being kind online.
Rep. Tom Graves participated in today’s presentation at Sammy McClure Middle School. He opened the assembly by expressing the importance of online safety to the students, and competing in the password faceoff challenge, where students are asked to come up with the strongest possible password.

“Today’s students are more connected than ever, and as a Dad to three kids I know how important it is to make sure every click, tweet, and post is done responsibly,” said Representative Tom Graves. “When it comes to being cyber secure, we can all be doing more to keep ourselves safe online. I’m grateful to the team at Google and thank the students and teachers at Sammy McClure Middle School for learning with us today.”

The Online Safety Roadshow: How to Be Internet Awesome is a Google program designed to educate parents and students on how to be smart, successful and safe online. The presentation is a 45 minute assembly that teaches middle school students how to be smart about the content they share online. It focuses on important skills, including how to create a safe and memorable password, identifying phishing scams, and more. This roadshow is part of Grow with Google, an initiative to provide Americans of all ages with the skills they need to prepare for work, find a job or grow their business.
