Rep. Graves to Vote to Fund Medical Research, National Parks and Museums

Rep. Graves supports funding two bills throughout the federal government's shutdown.

U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) issued the following statement in support of two bills that the House will voted on Wednesday evening to fund noncontroversial areas of the federal government:

"If the president believes a shutdown is bad for the economy, he should urge Democrats in Congress to join House Republicans in passing noncontroversial funding bills to keep as much of the government open as possible. The president should also get control of Harry Reid and pressure him to accept our offer to negotiate on our areas of disagreement.

“As it stands today, only Democrats are taking the all-or-nothing hardline position. Republicans have simply asked to negotiate for a fair funding bill, and until Democrats agree to talk, we will continue acting responsibly to fund the government.”
