Board Amends Student Tobacco Use Policy

Changes approved by the Paulding County School Board aim to bring the district a designation of being tobacco free.

Students who attend will now be under a more tightly defined tobacco use policy following action taken by the district school board.

Board members at their meeting Tuesday night unanimously approved wording changes to the policy—it will now say that student use or possession of tobacco products of any kind is prohibited at any time "on any school or district property” as well as at bus stops, school vehicles and any school-sponsored or related event, either on or off campus.

The policy previously only specified that student tobacco use or possession was prohibited on “any school campus.”
