South Paulding Kicker Wins Girls Athlete of Week (You Read That Right)
Brittany Havenner has helped the Spartans to a 3-0 start, including kicking the game-winning FG in overtime against Villa Rica.

South Paulding High School football placekicker Brittany Havenner was named the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Girls Athlete of the Week, according to Score Atlanta.
Havenner has helped the 3-0 Spartans with 10 extra points (out of 10 tries) and 4-of-6 field-goal kicking this season. That includes a game-winning field goal in overtime to beat Villa Rica on Sept. 5.
Havenner, who kicked for 66 points in the 2013 season, also handles the team’s kickoffs.

“The kids have a lot of confidence in her. She goes on the field, and it’s going to go through the uprights and we’re going to score points,” Coach Ed Koester said in a Score Atlanta article. “The kids love her, they work hard and they expect her to do her job just like she expects them to do theirs.”
