South Paulding Wins Marching Band ‘Battle’

The "Spirit of South Paulding" high school marching band will soon receive $5,000 from The Bert Show after winning a contest that began back in October.

Members of the South Paulding High School band will soon be dressed in new duds thanks to those who went online to support them in an Atlanta-based radio show’s contest.

The “Spirit of South Paulding” will soon bring back to Douglasville $5,000 for winning The Bert Show’s "Battle of the High School Marching Bands." The band was one of 28 to begin the contest in October and had advanced to the final round earlier this month. The contest saw bands go head-to-head to earn online votes, with the top vote-getter in each matchup advancing to the next round.

South Paulding squared off against Brookwood High during the final two-week voting period that ended Sunday. By 12:01 a.m. Monday, the contest website had announced South Paulding as the winner.
