Video: Opening Day for Academy Sports

Based on Dallas-Hiram Patch , we’re guessing 8 a.m. can’t come soon enough for some people today. That’s when Academy Sports + Outdoors of Hiram will officially open for business.

The store at 4215 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway—— will give the first 70 customers in line a free 20-inch youth bicycle. For those customers as well as those who do not arrive early enough for the freebies, the store will have for sale a wide selection of products in its facility, which encompasses more than 74,000 square feet. The store sells footwear, apparel, sports and leisure products, as well as hunting, fishing and camping equipment.

Though today marks the first chance for the general public to shop at the store, the first people through the door won’t be the first customers—that honor went to 30 children from the Boys and Girls Club of Paulding County. The kids were given gift cards and time to spend them Thursday afternoon during a private youth giveback event put on by the store.
