Weekend Pigskin Roundup: East Paulding Shines Again

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Dallas-Hiram Patch.

East Paulding 49, Paulding County 9

Friday night at the Bone Yard was a rout as the easily defeated the , 49-9. The Raiders came to play and proved to everyone in attendance why they are a preseason favorite to win Region 5-AAAA and a consensus top ten team in the state.

East Paulding tailback Terrell Hannah once again stepped in for the injured Kamani Thomas and led the Raiders in rushing as he gashed the Patriots defense for big gains. Sophomore quarterback Mitchell Webb was more than efficient as he completed past after pass against the Patriots secondary.

The Patriots were not without highlights. Safety Aaron Huff seemed to be in on every tackle chasing down plays sideline to sideline. He also broke up two Raider passes on crossing routes and had one fumble recovery.

South Paulding 17, Hiram 10

After getting blanked in Week 1 by East Paulding, the turned things around by beating Friday.

North Paulding 40, Alexander 35

With five seconds to play, quarterback Zach Cummins connected on a 33-yard pass to Joel Brooks to give the Wolfpack the win and move the team to 1-1 on the season. The back-and-forth fourth quarter featured two lead changes in the final 73 seconds of the game as Alexander scored with 1:13 remaining to take the lead from North Paulding.
