📰 News we're reading
• No HAZMAT spill at I-95 wreck (thedariennews.net) — Traffic from two serious I-95 crashes, including a fatal wreck, was routed through Darien and McIntosh County, briefly closing both directions of the interstate. Local emergency crews managed diesel fuel cleanup and heavy congestion but confirmed there was no hazardous materials spill. Officials say agencies cooperated closely while handling school traffic and detours through town.
• The 8 Most Scenic Georgia Towns (worldatlas.com) — Darien is highlighted as one of Georgia's most scenic towns, sitting where the Altamaha River meets the coast and still home to a working shrimp fleet along the waterfront. The piece spotlights Fort King George, Sapelo Island ferry access, and nearby historic rice plantation ruins. It frames Darien as a small, photogenic coastal community worth a dedicated visit.
