Oprah Campaigning For Abrams In Marietta, Decatur On Thursday

Abrams and Brian Kemp are running for governor in the nation's most watched gubernatorial election.

ATLANTA, GA -- Oprah Winfrey will campaign for Stacey Abrams on Thursday at two metro Atlanta locations, as the nation's most watched governor's race enters what could be it final days. Abrams' campaign confirmed Winfrey will participate in a town hall at 2 pm at the Cobb Civic Center in Marietta and 3 pm at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts Center in Decatur.

Abrams is seeking to become the nation's first African-American female governor in history, while her opponent, Brian Kemp, is aiming to maintain GOP control of the office that Republicans have enjoyed since 2002.

Winfrey's appearance is the latest instance of prominent political figures and celebrities are getting involved in Georgia's nationally watched elections. Actor Will Ferrell campaigned for Abrams in Kennesaw and other Georgia locations over the weekend. Vice President Mike Kemp is making a campaign stop for Kemp on Thursday in Dalton, while former president Barack Obama will stump for Abrams on Friday at Morehouse College.

Finally, President Donald Trump is set to appear at a Macon campaign rally for Kemp on Saturday.

More than 1 million ballots have already been cast in a race that national Democrats hope will become a swing state, as the nation's midterm elections are widely being seen as a referendum on Trump's administration. Early voting throughout the state ends Friday, Nov. 2.
