Armed Robber Found In Dumpster, Arrested By Douglasville Police

Douglasville Police found an armed robber hiding in a dumpster Thursday and arrested him after he robbed someone at gunpoint earlier.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Douglasville Police found an armed robber hiding in a dumpster Thursday and arrested him after he robbed someone at gunpoint earlier in the day. No one was injured.

Shortly after 1 p.m. a person was robbed at gunpoint in the area of Thornton Rd and Interstate West Pkwy. The person robbed had agreed to meet the robber there in order to sell an electronic device. Officers of Douglasville Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Cobb County Police Department, responded to the area and set up a perimeter.

A Douglasville Police officer and Douglas County Sheriff's deputy were searching a nearby business together and found the suspect hiding in a dumpster.

The item stolen was an Apple Watch, according to police. An app was used to coordinate the supposed sale of the watch.

Police remind the public that they can use the police parking lot to conduct transactions, a suggestion that has been in place for several years now. "I think in general a police parking lot would be safer than any other to meet a stranger you are doing business with," said Major J.R. Davidson, Douglasville Police.

The suspect's identity is not being released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
