Army Vet Edward Ronald 'Pop' Campbell, 83, Dies

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. from Hightower's Memorial Chapel in Douglasville.

Edward Ronald “Pop” Campbell, 83 of Villa Rica, formerly of Lithia Springs, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17. He was born on July 9, 1930 in Cedartown, Georgia, the son of the late Roy and Ada Price Campbell. He retired from Columbia Records and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Viola Cochran Campbell; son, Larry Shead, sister, Hazel Campbell and brother, Daniel Campbell.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Linda and Wayne Beck of Whitesburg, Brad and Ansley Campbell of Newnan, Teresa and Brent Mason of Carrollton and Jerry and Linda Shead of Powder Springs; daughter-in-law, Olivia Shead of Dallas; brothers, Aaron Campbell of Kansas and Charles Campbell of Cedartown; grandchildren, Cynthia, Jay, Laurie, Penny, Kelly, Brett, Cole, Baylee, Brodie, Wade and Blake; 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening and Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

Interment will follow in the Mozley Memorial Park with Military Honors.
