Car Break-In Arrests: 3 Suspects in Multiple Cases

Stolen items were discovered in a home shared by the 3 suspects, according to Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Three suspects are in custody, accused in several car break-ins after a search of their home resulted in the discovery of stolen items, according to Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

The arrests followed a chase by the latest suspect on Thursday, March 31, a traffic stop of one of the suspects, and the two other suspects attempting to hide from police inside the home.

The suspects have note been identified.

On the morning of Thursday March 31st, 2016 Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the Reynolds Road area after reports of several entering autos that had occurred in the area. While deputies were conducting their investigation, a victim gave deputies a statement that included a description of three suspects. The victim reported that they had followed the subjects back to a residence on Reynolds Road.

After obtaining this information, deputies went by this residence and observed a car backing out of the drive way. The vehicle was followed down to Stewart Mill Road where a traffic stop was conducted by deputies of the Traffic/Crime Suppression Unit. During the investigative stop it was discovered that a male occupant in the car lived at the residence on Reynolds Road.

The occupant of the vehicle was brought back to their residence from the traffic stop to meet with investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division that was in the area assisting the patrol division. While at the residence that was identified by the victim, deputies and investigators made contact with two more male subjects hiding in a location inside the residence.

During the investigation, it was determined that the individuals at the house were suspects in the thefts that had occurred. Investigators were able to obtain enough information to secure a search warrant for the property. During a search of the residence, stolen property was located that had been taken from several residences in the area. It was also discovered that the individuals had active warrants for Burglary out of Carroll County Georgia.

Investigators and deputies arrested Richard Whittington, David Thompson and Aaron Silvey and were taken to the Douglas County Jail on multiple theft related charges.
