Car Hits Horse After Falling Tree Breaks Fence In Douglas County

A horse was hit by a car, on Highway 92 in Douglas County, and had to be put down, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A horse was hit by a car, on Highway 92 in Douglas County, and had to be put down, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The accident took place on off Leann Drive near Boundary Waters Aquatics Center in Douglas County.

According to the Georgia State Patrol report, the driver was not injured, but the car was towed due to disabling damage.

At around 7:40 a.m., a horse was on Highway 92 when a 2009 Honda Accord traveling northbound hit the animal. State Trooper J. Fuller's report said he was advised by a Douglas County Sheriff's deputy that the horse had already been put down and transported back to the owner's property before he arrived.

Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Jesse Hambrick said a tree fell on a fence allowing several horses to escape. The other horses were returned to the owner.
