Children Among Victims in Douglasville Shootings That Killed 5: Reports

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has not released the names of the people involved in the Saturday incident; in all, 7 people were shot.

Five people were shot dead Saturday afternoon near Douglasville in what is reported to be a domestic-related incident, according to media reports.

Seven shooting victims were found at the scene, including children, at 3640 Willow Tree Circle, Douglas County spokesman Lt. Glenn Daniel told reporters. WSB-TV first reported the shootings Saturday.

Authorities were not releasing many details of the incident Saturday night, but neighbors told reporters the shooter was allegedly the ex-husband of the woman who lives at the address with her children and boyfriend. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the shooter, his ex-wife and two children were among the dead. The newspaper also reported two other children were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The sheriff’s office responded to a 911 call around 3 p.m. Saturday. The house is located in the Amber Forest subdivision, south of I-20 off Highway 92.

11Alive reported bodies were found inside and outside the home, and one neighbor told the AJC she “saw bodies in the street.”

Investigators said the shooter sneaked up to the house and started shooting; he had parked his car a ways away from the house, 11Alive reported.

DCSO Chief Deputy Stan Copeland told WSB-TV the number of shooting victims was the most he’s seen in his 38 years with the agency.
