This program is a partnership between the Chamber and the Douglas County School System. Leadership is more than just raw talent and determination. While a portion of great leadership is aptitude, a great deal of what it takes to be a leader is skill based and can be learned.
Participants will acquire and broaden their knowledge of local government, business and civic activities through this four month leadership program. The Youth Leadership Douglas program is highly interactive which permits participants to review the impact each topic has on themselves as well as the larger community.
The program will provide students with personal and professional development opportunities that cater to each individual. The program will allow students to embrace the changes of technology by submitting their assignments through various social media outlets and also to select their assignments based on their personal interests.
Youth Leadership Douglas is a five month program that has two sessions. Fall session begins in August 2015 and ends in December 2015, and Spring session begins January 2016 and ends in May 2016 for high school juniors only. Current sophomores from each Douglas County high school (both public and private) are eligible.
These students will then be interviewed by the YLD Program Coordinators. Students must apply and qualify through an application and interview process, which is under the direction of the individual school.
Applications are due by March 13th and are available online at www.douglascountygeorgia.com/youthleadership-douglas. For more information on this program, please contact Sara Ray at 770.942.5022.
