Douglas County Fire Leaves 13 People Homeless
"The structure was a total loss," Douglas County Spokesperson Rick Martin said.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA—The Douglas County Fire Department is investigating the cause of a house that occurred Wednesday morning in the Fairways Subdivision.
According to Douglas County Spokesperson Rick Martin, dispatchers with the Douglas County E-911 Emergency Operations Center began receiving calls about 6:30 a.m. for an occupied house on fire in the 6300 block of Creek Valley Way.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, officials said heavy flames could be seen coming from the structure. There were no injuries reported.

“A total of thirteen people lived in the home,” Martin said. “The structure was a total loss. Occupants of the home said they smelled smoke and heard smoke detectors going off at the time of the fire. We hope this is a reminder to all homeowners to please check their smoke detectors and change their batteries.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
