Douglas County Murder Suspect Arrested in North Carolina

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A murder suspect from Douglas County has been arrested in North Carolina.

Authorities say Shontori Gooden, 21, shot and killed another woman, Nyla Foster, last Saturday in a fight over a man.

On Sunday, authorities in Charlotte, North Carolina, received an anonymous tip that Gooden was in a public area, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

She was identified and arrested without incident.

On Tuesday, Gooden was transported back to Douglas County, where she faces charges of felony murder and aggravated assault.

She is being held at Douglas County Jail.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Gooden shot Foster, also 21, in a parking lot in Lithia Springs after the two got into an argument.

Gooden's first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
