Douglasville Businesses Hold Coat Drive to Benefit S.H.A.R.E House

Each business encouraged their employees, clients, local residents and other community organizations to donate gently used or new coats.

The S.H.A.R.E. House received a generous donation just in time for the holiday season at its recent Christmas Luncheon.

Board Chair Janet Kelley, Executive Director Teresa Smith and Board Member Amy O’Shields were present to accept the donation on behalf of the organization.

Local businesses, including Anchor Heating & Air Conditioning, ABRA Auto Body Glass, and Ryan Rice Allstate
Agency, held a S.H.A.R.E. House Coat Drive over the past two months. Each business encouraged their employees, clients, local residents and other community organizations to donate gently used or new coats at their offices throughout Douglas County.

Cathy Embry from ABRA Auto Body Glass had the idea and immediately brought in partners to help make the drive a community wide effort.

“S.H.A.R.E House is honored to be the recipient of this generous donation from Anchor Heating and Air, ABRA,
and Ryan Rice Agency,” Kelley said. “The clients of S.H.A.R.E. House frequently leave their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs in the middle of the night. It warms my heart to know that we live in such a giving business community and that our residents will all have coats this holiday season.”

S.H.A.R.E. (Someone Helping Another through Resources and Education) House is a non-profit organization
providing crisis intervention and the continuum of care to address the causes and effects of family violence.
Services provided by S.H.A.R.E. House include 24 Hour Crisis Line, 24 Hour Emergency Shelter, transitional
apartments, legal advocacy, case management, children’s program, domestic violence counseling, support
groups, emergency food and clothing, community education and more.
