This active group conducts monthly photo contests on different themes and presents expert professional photographers as guest speakers at each meeting, maintains a reference library and offers several field trips during the year.

The club presents a group show of recent works by its members every other year at the Cultural Arts Council, and its individual members are often included in other exhibits throughout the year as well. This year’s show includes many deservedly well-established local photographers’ images and also introduces Douglas County to some fascinating pieces by newcomers to the community and the club.

With twenty-two photographers from the Sweetwater Camera Club and over 70 artworks to be displayed, this exhibit will feature a great array of subjects and styles of photography. Visitors will be treated to beautiful images of faraway places like the wonderfully colorful St. Basil’s Cathedral.

Nature lovers can feast their eyes on wondrous images that capture the beauty found in a thunderstorm, or equally on the intimate splendor of macro photography. Some of the artists experiment with traditional film medium as they create images using multiple exposures on 35mm film.

Other artists explore not only technique, but also the use of different materials to print their images on – including aluminum and canvas.
