DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A man ran a stop sign Tuesday, while traveling westbound on Highway 78, and ran into a car driven by a Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy, according to the Sheriff's Office. The deputy is recovering at home and the condition of the other driver is not known. The Sheriff's Office said both appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries.
"For your safety and the safety of others please drive carefully and obey the traffic laws," reads a post on the Sheriff's website.
"It is the belief of some that lesser traffic offenses should not be enforced as strictly in Douglas County and that law enforcement should concentrate their efforts on more serious crimes and issues," continues the post. "Speeding, distracted driving, running stop signs and red lights are and have been a serious concern of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. We have two different units consisting of 13 deputies specifically designated to traffic enforcement throughout the county."
