Here are the top five stories today in Douglasville:

  1. Early voting for the Jun. 21 General Primary Runoff began yesterday, Jun. 13, and runs through Friday, Jun. 17. Polling location hours run from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at four locations: the Douglas County Courthouse, Woodie Fite Senior Center, Deer Lick Park, and Dog River Library. This particular runoff is only for the Democratic ballot; anyone who voted on a Republican ballot in the May 24 election will not need to participate in the Jun. 21 runoff. 2. The Lost Art Music Festival will kick off at the Foxhall Resort this weekend. Gates open Friday, Jun. 17 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, Jun. 18 at 1:00 p.m. Visit lostartmusicfest.com for the full lineup of performers as well as artist experiences. (CBS 46 News)
  3. A new Sky Zone Trampoline Park is headed to Douglasville later this year. "I was thrilled to find a franchise opportunity that has a proven model to profitability and allows me to bring a family-friendly activity to Douglasville," said franchisee Natalee Pessoa. An exact date for the trampoline park's opening has not yet been publicized. (PR Newswire)
  4. A Douglasville educator was featured in Publishers Weekly in an article on poetry storytimes. Tracy Lynn Scaglione, library media specialist at Dorsett Shoals Elementary School, offers models of poetry for her students and integrates the medium into literacy activities throughout the year. Said Scaglione, "Our library's poetry section is not just dusted off for National Poetry Month. We use poetry books all year long." (Publishers Weekly)
