Gas Prices Climb in Ga.: Check Our Cheapest Gas Map

The Easter weekend prices are below last year's average, but climbing high from what we were paying just a month ago.

ATLANTA, GA — The price of gas in Georgia has spiked, just as travelers fill up for Easter and spring travel plans.

One month ago, gas in the Atlanta metro area was at $1.64. Today, the average price of a regular gallon of gas is $2, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

These are the highest prices in 2016, but, a year ago this spring, we were paying $2.25 a gallon.

AAA reports the price will likely be headed in that direction.

"Rising oil prices, increased demand, and reduced gasoline supplies have forced motorists to pay more money at the pumps in recent weeks," said Mark Jenkins, a AAA spokesman.
