Here are the top stories in Douglasville today

  1. The City Of Douglasville is a "Healthiest Employer" again! For the third time, the City of Douglasville has won the Atlanta Business Chronicle's Healthiest Employer Award for a medium sized agency (100 – 499 employees). The City's Wellness Program, 'D-Fit', began in 2016 as an objective set forth by the Douglasville Mayor, Council, and City Manager Marcia Hampton and assigned to the Human Resources Department. The city was able to continue its wellness initiatives even through the pandemic by turning to Microsoft Teams to connect. "That has proven to be beneficial," said Wellness Committee Chair Allison Parker. "We have chats among employees pertaining to wellness and it has created a stronger wellness committee."(City of Douglasville)
  2. Douglasville Remembers 9/11 In Courthouse Ceremony: On Saturday, a 9/11 Memorial Ride and concert was also held at Harley Davidson of Atlanta in Lithia Springs. The ride, which passed through Douglas, Paulding, and Cobb counties, benefited the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a Staten Island-based foundation devoted to honoring the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller, who was killed on 9/11. The ceremony also observed four moments of silence: the first at 8:46 a.m., when the North Tower was struck; the second at 9:03 a.m., when the South Tower was struck; at 9:37 a.m., when the Pentagon was struck; and at 10:03 a.m. when United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
