Honoring 'Capt. Herb': Bridge to Be Named After Late Traffic Reporter

A celebration was held after the Georgia State House of Representatives passed House Resolution 568, which will name a Douglas County bridge in Emory’s honor.
Emory, the beloved WSB radio Radio and Channel 2 Action News traffic reporter, died of a heart attack last April after stopping to help at an accident.

‘Captain’ Herb Emory, Longtime Traffic Reporter, Dies While Helping One Last Time
Rep. Micah Gravley of Douglasville presented Emory’s wife, Karen, the resolution at a celebration on March 26.
“He was a distinguished Douglas County citizen and a Georgia icon,” Gravley said, according to a report by WSB Radio.
The resolution allows for the naming of the newly designed intersection of Lee Rd and I-20 in Douglas County in honor of “Capt. Herb.”
Details of the bridge dedication will come at a later date.
