Missing Peace Band in Radio Contest

Local contemporary Christian band Missing Peace is competing in Season 8 Local Artist Spotlight Contest with radio station The Joy FM. The top vote winner of the 12 contestants will be part of The Joy FM line up on the air for the Local Artist Spotlight on Saturday nights in August this year. Black Cat Studios in Griffin, Georgia will also fully produce, mix, and master a single for the artist with the most votes. The Joy FM on air personality, Benji Shepherd said, “We are excited to spotlight the local talent in our listening area and feel like this is a great opportunity to get them some exposure.”

Band members of Missing Peace include vocalist Marty Jo Barnes, a Douglas County resident and student at Alexander High School, Christian Thrailkill, bass guitar player and recent graduate of East Paulding High School. Jonah Sampson plays the drums for the group, he is also a student of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Douglas County Resident. Lead guitar player is Bryce McGaughey, of Douglas County. “This is such a great chance for Missing Peace to spread the word of God through our music on The Joy FM radio station,” said Marty Jo Barnes.

The band formed in 2014 playing a mix of contemporary worship and original music written and composed by Marty Jo and Christian, founding members. Some of Missing Peace performances include the last two Easter sunrise services at Callaway Gardens, Relay for Life in Douglas County and as the opening act for the bands Tenth Avenue North and I Am They at the Christian music concert in Paulding County last summer, as well as, many local churches and community events. A CD is in the works and the band has some videos on YouTube. “We have a fun time playing live and hope this contest opens doors for our music to bring others closer to God and meaningful worship,” said Marty Jo, band leader.

Voting for the contest will begin on July 9, 2018 and run through July 15, 2018. People can vote for Missing Peace by going on the internet to www.georgia.thejoyfm.com and follow the directions for voting.
