Man's iPhone Catches Fire in His Pants

The owner told WSB that he had to pull his pants off in a Douglas County parking lot to avoid burns.


A man was standing in a Douglas County parking lot Tuesday when his phone caught fire in his pants.

His phone provider has replaced the iPhone 6 Plus, but he told WSBTV that he was looking for an explanation and apology.

“I mean, it was pretty humiliating having to take your pants off in a parking lot,” he told WSB.

Rocky (he asked WSB not to share his full name) said he was leaving the Home Depot on Tuesday when he felt something burning in his front pocket. By pulling his pants off, Rocky escaped serious injury.

He said that he learned the phone had been refurbished when he purchased it in October.

Apple representatives told WSB that they would be reaching out to Rocky.
