Meth Bust Shuts Down Major Ring in Douglas County (ICYMI)

Eighteen people were arrested in a series of raids and search warrants executed Wednesday and Thursday in Douglas County.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Eighteen people have been arrested in what Douglas County authorities are calling the bust of a major methamphetamine trafficking group in the area.

Announced late Friday, the operation took place on Wednesday and Thursday. Multiple raids and search warrants resulted in the seizure of several pounds of meth and marijuana, money and property, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

The trafficking ring was operating in Douglas, Fulton and Cobb counties, according to authorities, and trafficked meth throughout west Georgia.

Investigators estimate that, during a two-month period, the organization brought in and distributed more than 50 pounds of methamphetamine.

"As a result of this case, a large-scale operation has been dismantled," the sheriff's office said in a news release.

The operation was described as ongoing and more arrests are anticipated, the sheriff's office said.

In the release, Sheriff Tim Pounds thanked the Georgia State Patrol, Fulton County Police Department, Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna Task Force and all of his deputies and investigators who worked on the case.
