Minor Injuries After SUV Strikes Douglas School Bus

The SUV's driver swerved to avoid rear-ending another vehicle and ended up striking the rear of the bus, authorities say.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Five students were checked for minor injuries Friday morning after an SUV struck a Douglas County school bus.

The five were among 21 high school-age students on the bus at the time of the crash, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The driver of the SUV, a Ford Expedition, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The collision happened on northbound Ga. 92 near Sunset Drive.

According to Georgia State Patrol, the bus had stopped to allow a student to get on.

As traffic behind the bus slowed, the SUV swerved into the right line to avoid rear-ending another vehicle and ended up striking the rear of the bus, the GSP said.
