Mistletoe Kissing Record Broken at Six Flags Over Georgia

Theme park reportedly set a new bar for "most couples kissing under the mistletoe."

AUSTELL, GA- Couples came together at Six Flags Over Georgia this weekend to share one really big smooch — reportedly breaking the record for the number of people kissing under the mistletoe.

Organizers had promoted the event as an attempt to “achieve the impossible and set romance to all new heights with a Guinness World Record attempt.”

Saturday night, the park shared a video of the kisses at the new Mistletoe Mansion section of Holiday in the Park.

There were 201 couples participating in the event, each given their own mistletoe sprig.

They could be in for a surprise next fall. Among the origins for the mistletoe tradition: that it would bestow fertility.

According to The Holiday Spot, the plant was also considered a sign of piece in Scandinavian traditions, along the lines of “kiss and make-up.”
