Pelican's Snoballs To Open In Douglasville

The New Orleans-style shaved ice spot, which will offer games and other entertainment, aims to be open by July 1.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Pelican's Snoballs, a New Orleans-style shaved ice chain, is set to open in Douglasville just in time for the hottest days of summer.

The shop, which features more than 100 flavors of shaved ice treats, will be in downtown Douglasville, at 6482 E. Broad S. According to the company's website, the Douglasville location will be its seventh in Georgia.

The company, which also has locations in nine other mostly Southern states, aims to open in Douglasville on July 1.

The restaurant will have picnic tables and feature games like hopscotch, cornhole, Pelican's toss ("You'll see," the company says on Facebook), playground equipment and other features. There will be indoor seating, as well as outdoor seating under shade, and a room will be available to rent for parties and other special occasions.

Named after Louisiana's state bird, Pelican's serves up a traditional version of the New Orleans SnoBall, which is made of shaved ice and flavoring. In addition to its 100-plus flavors, the Douglasville location will offer 25 toppings, the company says.
