Regional Greenway Trail Now Open
The Chattahoochee Hill Country Regional Greenway Trail, behind Douglas County's Boundary Waters, is now open.

The ¾-mile pilot segment of the Chattahoochee Hill Country Regional Greenway Trail officially opened to the public on Friday with a ribbon-cutting, opening program, and initial trail walk by local and regional officials and the public.
The opening of the trail’s head end is behind the Boundary Waters Aquatic Center. It's just a short walk to the trail gazebo where anyone may walk the rest of the trail at their leisure.
The pilot segment is the beginning of the eventual 98-mile project that will extend through Douglas, Carroll, Coweta and Fulton Counties, as well as the City of Chattahoochee Hills. The trail will be accessible to all walkers, bikers, and runners, and is 100 percent accessible for all abilities, including wheelchairs and other assistance devices. The trail also features benches, signage, and a gazebo.

The purpose of the trail is to encourage the public to get out of their cars, away from computers and smart phones, and again breathe the air and become healthier people.
The pilot segment was funded by a $500,000 Congressional earmark with additional monies and land provision by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners.
