Womack was suspended with pay on May 14 by Council until an investigation was completed into the March 2 incident, which involved a high-speed chase on I-20. The suspect in that case, Morris Tommy Slaughter faces multiple charges, including fleeing police, marijuana possession and reckless driving.
Last month, Council authorized an independent investigation into the charges.
