Valentine's Day Date Idea: Adopt A Shelter Pet Together

Why not take your date to the Douglas County Animal Shelter and adopt a new forever friend?

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Looking for an out-of-the-box way to spend Valentine's Day? Why not take your date to the Douglas County Animal Shelter and adopt a new forever friend? The shelter is having a Valentine's Day special, offering $14 off all adoptions from Feb. 10 through Feb. 14.

The shelter is still overstocked from returned pets after the holidays and so they are going to try run a pilot program by opening on Mondays during the month of February. Normally, the shelter is closed on Mondays.

"That will give us an extra four hours of adoption time a week, and that's a big deal," said Frances McMillan shelter director.
