Veterans Day Parade Set For Saturday In Douglasville

The "lighted parade" steps off at 7 p.m. and is a way of saying "thank you" to military veterans and those serving now.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Douglasville's annual Douglas County Veterans Day Lighted Parade is set to step off Saturday at 7 p.m.

As part of the tradition, parade units will light themselves up to shine brightly in the evening parade. "The Parade With A Purpose" will make its way through town as a way of honoring veterans, active-duty military and reserves.

Veterans groups, military and reserve units and JROTC members are expect to be among the units in the parade. Among them will be a trolley in which any veteran, active military member or reserve may ride. No reservations are necessary.

The parade will begin at Douglas County High School and proceed north on Campbellton Street, then west on Church Street and South on Bowden, Woodrow and Campbellton streets back to the high school. Bands and drill teams are scheduled to perform at a designated spot on Campbellton Street between Spring an Church streets.
