• Butts County Magistrate Court: Aug. 17 to 23 (jacksonprogress-argus.com) — Residents in and around Jackson may recognize names in this week's Butts County Magistrate Court report, which details recent bond hearings on drug, theft, weapons, and violence charges. The court also handled numerous civil and ordinance hearings, issued 40 warrants, and filed 25 new civil cases, reflecting an active week in the local justice system. 
• Lady Devils aim for 'sharp' play vs. powerful Pike (jacksonprogress-argus.com) — Jackson High's Lady Devils softball team is gearing up for two big region showdowns this week against powerhouse Pike County, which has beaten Jackson five straight times. Coach Jaimie Allen says the team must deliver seven sharp innings in all phases—hitting, pitching, and defense—to finally hand Pike a loss and keep their strong season rolling.
