The Georgia DOT says the $17.3 million Skip Spann Connector is slated for a March 2016 finish date, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. Construction began in April of last year and is described as 48 percent complete by a DOT deputy director.

Once complete, the bridge will link the Kennesaw State University Campus to its nearby housing properties and the Town Center area, easing traffic congestion on Chastain Road. The bridge will include bike and pedestrian lanes as well as four lanes of vehicle traffic, a Town Center Community Improvement District (CID) spokeswoman told the MDJ.

The bridge is named after the late Skip Spann, a prominent fundraiser for KSU and a Town Center CID board member, the MDJ says.
