Ahmed Mohamed, a suspect to a genius

Without doubt, it is evident that Islamaphobia exists. Ahmed is just a boy who brought a homemade clock to school and left with handcuffs. Clearly, Ahmed is a victim of Islamophobia. If he was a white boy named James, he would have been labeled as genius. Since his name is Ahmed, he was labeled as a suspect. Ahmed’s teacher and the police rushed into accusing the boy of something that was far beyond his invention. His skin color and religion was a threat to the teacher. Sadly, society is teaching young minds that no matter what they go to accomplish, people will only see the color of their skin.

As a Muslim American myself, I was appalled to hear this news. The media quickly picked up this news, and now Ahmed is gaining worldwide support. I am proud to say that Ahmed is proof that not all Muslims are terrorists. Ahmed’s goal was to impress his teacher, but he ended up impressing the world. Ahmed is a result of a racist and wrong accusation. Despite being arrested, Ahmed stands strong and says, “Don’t let the world change you.” What happened with Ahmed was uncalled for, but it was God’s plan to fulfill his dream and show the world his talent!
