Police Arrest Lawrenceville Man Accused of Shooting Roommate
Christopher Joseph Kemp, 35, was found in a vehicle on property near Lawrenceville.
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A Lawrenceville man accused of shooting his roommate was arrested Sunday after police received a tip he was staying at a home nearby.
Christopher Joseph Kemp, 35, was wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and had been considered armed and dangerous.
Gwinnett County Police on Sunday received an anonymous tip that Kemp was staying at a home on the 1400 block of Bowman Road in the Lawrenceville area.

They arrived at about 8 p.m. and found Kemp hiding in a vehicle on the property.

He was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, loitering/prowling and theft by receiving.

On November 20, police officers were called shortly after noon to a residence in the 2000 block of Prospect Road in Lawrenceville.
When officers arrived, they found Justin Lopes, 35, suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was laying on a sofa, with his girlfriend applying pressure to his wounds as they waited for an ambulance.
He was ultimately transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
A detective learned that Lopes had told his girlfriend he was going to the store, according to a police news release. A few moments later, the release said, she heard the gunshot and saw Justin come back inside the home.
Police at the time said Kemp's alleged motive for the shooting was unknown.
