Macon Man Arrested on Felony Theft Charges in Gravestone Scheme

A Macon man has been arrested on multiple felony theft charges. It is alleged that people were paying for grave markers and memorials that were never delivered, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say 72-year-old Preston Jerome Brown was taken into custody Monday in connection with his business, P. Brown Memorials. Investigators allege Brown accepted payments from customers for gravestones and slabs but failed to provide the promised products.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation has identified at least 20 victims, including some outside Central Georgia, with cases dating back to 2024. The total amount of money involved has not yet been determined.

Jail records show Brown is facing seven counts of theft by deception and one count of exploitation of an elderly person. The investigation remains ongoing.
